Two Alive Colossus
2012 Olympic Trials
2012 Olympic Trials

Last night in Oxnard, California at the Police Athletic League National Tournament, the most anticipated bout of two alive colossus: In the 132lb category, Queen Underwood & Mikaela Mayer. A rematch from the 2012 USA Olympic Trials final.

This go around, Mayer was the winner. According to my sources the bout could go both ways and the not so clear live-stream that I watched told me the same.

I know boxers jump into the ring to win and Queen must be upset with the decision. On the other hand, Boxing and Women’s Boxing are grateful of having warriors like them who with their heart and performance put the name of the sport on a pedestal.

I am very grateful with both of them and as many others, just want to send a public thank you for their tenacity and respect for the sport of women’s boxing.

What is it that the most anticipated bouts in Women’s Olympic Style boxing history involve Queen Underwood? We still are waiting to see “The Queen” again in the ring with Katie Taylor.

Congratulations to Mikaela Mayer who I have seen grow from a crawling boxer to a ‘Diosa’.
