July 6, this coming Saturday, Carina “La Reina” Moreno, (23-5, 6 KOs) will have her thousands of fans from Northern California in front of their computer screens breathing heavy while she defends her WBA flyweight belt against Susi Kentikian, I’ll be one of them.
Moreno is one of the many women boxers in the planet that never goes in the ring to play around. She is fun to watch. Her trainer, Rick Noble, said that she has been working on her power, so I am prepared to witness a great fight.
Today during the press conference, Moreno showed great confidence and said she is in better place this time now that she has completed recovery from her left knee injury.
“I’m ready to fight and I’m coming to win. I’m more prepared than the last fight.”
Last December, when Moreno won for split decision to Kentikian 96-94, 96-94, 93-97, her knee didn’t allow her to move around and throw her famous jabs with confidence.
Kentikian is six years younger than Moreno and will fight in her adopted country of Germany, but this doesn’t affect “La Reina”, who says she is used to travel and fighting in countries different than the United States.
